Rube Goldberg 2020-2021

While still totally virtual, the Livsey Community engaged in a Rube Goldberg challenge - to build a machine to do a job with as many steps and using as many materials as you could get your hands on. Over 50 entries were submitted to a Flipgrid showing, each showing a unique understanding of design principles as well as creativity and ingenuity.

Trash Grabbers - Spring 2021

As part of a unit on pollution and ecology, second graders were challenged to design and build a device that would make picking up litter easier for a human being.

STEM Night November 2019

STEM Night was a family event at Livsey. Partnering with STEM for Every Child, we offered parents a glimpse into the STEM activities taking place at our school on a daily basis. Microsoft's team showed kids and parents how to code/design games; BeeBots were put through their paces in the media center; a boat building challenge allowed families to test their designs for seaworthiness; LEGO building and LitteBits circuitry were all on display.

Student Lounge

4th and 5th Grade students designed and built an outdoor space for students to sit, play games, read, and relax. Planning, budgeting, allocating resources, gardening, and project management skills were employed as all students in Ms. Kelly's 4th and 5th grade Discovery classes worked collaboratively to execute their plan.
